One-on-One Mentorship Session By Dr. Satyajit Majumdar
When Dr. Satyajit Majumdar—renowned startup mentor and academician—visited SGSITS Incubation Forum (SIF), early-stage tech founders received sharp, no-fluff guidance on building scalable ventures. He emphasized achieving product-market fit by tailoring solutions to specific segments, launching fast, and iterating based on real customer feedback. Founders were urged to simplify problems, make adoption easy, and avoid building everything at once. He highlighted the importance of knowing your true customer, pricing based on value (not emotion), and having a dedicated sales & marketing lead—because passion alone doesn’t close deals. For hardware startups, he stressed rigorous reliability testing, real-time cost tracking, and planning for versioning. On business strategy, he underlined that distribution defines success, a core team builds longevity, and smart selling is as critical as smart building. Founders were reminded to lean into their strengths, deepen expertise continuously, and manage risk by betting on one strong move, not ten weak ones. As he put it, “प्रोडक्ट को जितना जल्दी कस्टमर को सेल करोगे उतना ज्यादा बेनिफिट मिलेगा”—early selling brings early learning and growth.
