Product Description
The Intravenous Drip Monitoring System is an intelligent, automated device designed to monitor and manage the flow rate of IV fluids administered to patients. This system uses advanced sensors and microcontroller-based technology to detect real-time drip rates, fluid levels, and potential interruptions. It eliminates the need for manual observation by healthcare professionals, providing audio-visual alerts in case of anomalies such as blockage, air bubble presence, or empty fluid bags.
Compact and easy to integrate with existing IV setups, the device enhances safety, accuracy, and efficiency in patient care. It is suitable for hospitals, clinics, home healthcare, and emergency care environments.
Real-time drip rate and fluid level monitoring
Auto-alert system for anomalies (over-infusion, empty bag, etc.)
Battery backup and wireless connectivity options
Easy installation and user-friendly interface
Compatible with standard IV setups
Problem Addressed
Problem Statement:
In our current medical care system, the monitoring of patients in a hospital throughout the day is a tiresome process. Sometimes doctors or nurses are too busy, so they can't monitor each patient. Due to missing a close & continuous monitoring of saline flow by the attendant/nurses and doctors, if the drip system is not monitored, saline bottle gets finished unnoticed, resulting in backflow of fluid, blood loss, etc.
Risk of Backflow or Air Embolism:
When saline bottles run empty or the drip rate is too slow, blood can backflow into the tubing, risking patient safety.
Nurses are often responsible for monitoring multiple patients, leading to lapses in IV fluid replacement or adjustments.
Product Application
We proposed a system called the Automated Intravenous Drip Monitoring System. This monitoring system is also designed to provide a sound warning indicator in case of abnormal conditions in the monitored parameters. This system alerts the staff by making buzzer sounds We have used an LCD that shows the room number & bed number of the hospital. It also automatically cut off the flow of fluid with the help of a servo motor at the critical limit. Sometimes, the veins get blocked, resulting in the no-flow condition of fluid in the veins; in that case, we are using red alert with sound at the LCD with the bed number. This system also provides messages to the phones of doctors, nurses, and hospital staff members. In case some time blocked veins at running condition saline bottle, so we used red alert with sound at LCD with bed number. Sensors & Hardware-—weight sensors, flow sensors, and optical or infrared sensors to monitor the drip rate and fluid level. Connectivity: Wireless, like Wi-Fi, for remote monitoring. Power Supply. Accurate monitoring to avoid false alarms.
End Users
Hospital and home care patient.
Achievements
