IREFILL
1/1
Product Description
iRefill aim to tackle rising plastic waste issue through its reusable packaging systems, enabling anyone to buy in small/bulk quantities —providing cost savings to customers and reducing plastic waste. iRefill system includes an Internet of Things (IoT)-connected vending machines to dispense products (Edible oil, personal and home care Product). iRefill aims to provide IoT-connected vending machines to retailers/wholesalers/organic stores and brands. So that they can sell their products through refilling by avoiding packaging cost, penalties (associated with the plastic), manpower cost, Spillage, Product wastage and plastic waste.
Problem Addressed
Last year, global plastic waste generation reached 400 million metric tons (MT). According to data, India's plastic usage has grown 20 times in the last 30 years. Despite recycling efforts over the past 40 years, the recycling rate remains at 9-10% and is projected to only reach 17% by 2060, which is insufficient to address the plastic waste crisis. Approximately 60% of the plastic generated is used solely for packaging purposes. Therefore, the problem we are tackling is the "Lack of availability of alternatives to plastic packaging leads to overuse of plastic and results in consumption of 12 MT* of plastic only for packaging materials in FMCG products every year in India."
Product Application
At iRefill, we are leveraging cutting-edge technologies like IoT and AI/ML to scale our impact on reducing plastic waste. Our focus is on developing advanced product dispensing systems that support reuse and refill models, directly addressing the challenge of plastic pollution. We design, develop, and assist our partners in implementing these dispensers in their stores and shops. Currently, we have successfully developed dispensers for liquid and semi-liquid products such as edible oil, shampoo, laundry liquid, milk, and water. Our goal is to expand this technology to other categories, including grains, chemicals, and petroleum products, enabling refilling systems across a broader range of products. In addition, we aim to establish offline zero-waste stores where any brand can sell their products through refilling systems. Customers will have the option to purchase products without plastic packaging, contributing to a sustainable and eco-friendly shopping experience.
